Durham Storytellers are hosting a new Storytelling Year event, featuring a storyteller “from away”, as well as local Durham Region tellers. This event takes place at Faith United Church in Courtice, ON, and on Zoom simultaneously (for Zoom link, contact durhamstorytellers@gmail.com) on Thursday, September 17 at 7 pm sharp EST.

Our featured "from away" storyteller is Brenda Byers from Burlington, ON; and our local tellers Kathleen Smyth from Bowmanville, ON, Dianne Chandler from Port Perry, ON, and Garth Wigle from Oshawa, ON round out the first half of the evening.

Afterwards, there will be an Open Mic for others to tell us a story. Stories are limited to 10 minutes to allow as many tellers as possible.

 

Come tell your favourite stories, whether from folklore, contemporary times, or personal experiences. We love them all - those amazing, well-crafted tales, poems, songs, and recitations.

 

We encourage and welcome in-person attendance, creating an atmosphere of emotional, engaging, intimate interactions, and connective storytelling. Otherwise, we will see you on Zoom.
